Based on the analysis of regulatory documents and scientific research, the historical aspects of the reconstruction of the internal affairs bodies of the Tajik SSR in 1929-1932 are considered. It is emphasized that the secession of the TASSR from the Uzbek SSR and the formation of the Tajik SSR (in 1929) necessitated the restructuring of law enforcement structures. The resolutions “On the implementation of the current legislation of Uzbekistan on the territory of the Tajik SSR” (dated December 19, 1929, No. 42), “On the reorganization of judicial bodies and the prosecutor’s office in connection with the abolition of districts” (October 23, 1930) were analyzed. “On the abolition of the People’s Commissariat of Internal Affairs of the Tajik SSR” (January 1, 1931, No. 205), “On approval of the Regulation on the People’s Commissariat of Justice of the Tajik SSR” (April 9, 1932, No. 125) and others. The changes in the structure and functions of the republic’s law enforcement agencies were studied: the reorganization of the judicial system and the prosecutor’s office in connection with the abolition of districts, the creation of the Main Directorate of Police and Criminal Investigation under the Council of People's Commissars of the Tajik SSR, the organization of cooperation between the judicial and prosecutorial systems of the republic, and other important issues of reorganization of law enforcement agencies.
