The process of establishment and formation of justice institutions in the Tajik Soviet Socialist Autonomous Republic (1924–1929), which was formed as part of the Uzbek SSR, has become the subject of research. It is noted that at the initial stage, the legal norms and experience of the Bukharan People's Soviet Republic and the Turkestan ASSR, as well as the prevailing laws of the Uzbek SSR and the RSFSR, were applied in the republic. During the period from 1924 to 1929, the People's Commissariat of Justice, the Tajik department of the Supreme Court of Uzbekistan, district courts, offices of people's judges, labor sessions of the court, and the Supreme Court were established in the Tajik SSR. It is emphasized that during this same period, the Criminal Code, the Civil Procedure Code, the Forest Code, the Land Code, as well as the Terminological and Labor Codes were adopted. These were similar to the corresponding codes of the RSFSR but included numerous modifications and additions reflecting local specificities. It is concluded that the process of establishing and developing the justice system in the Tajik SSR was a foundational and defining stage in the legal history of the country, laying the groundwork for strengthening the legal independence of the republic and forming a national legal system.
