Abstract
The article examines the theoretical and practical issues of the object and subject matter of regulation in private international law of the Republic of Tajikistan. It analyzes the concepts of "object" and "subject matter" of private international law, and explores the specifics of the foreign element, the conflict of laws method, and the public policy clause. Particular attention is paid to current challenges such as labor migration, digitalization of the economy and foreign investment; family relations (cross-border marriages, divorces, alimony obligations, guardianship and trusteeship issues); obligatory and contractual relations (international purchase and sale of goods, transportation, provision of services, investment contracts); property and inheritance relations. Based on current legislation (Civil Code of the Republic of Tajikistan from 2022) and international treaties, proposals de lege ferenda are formulated to improve national legal regulation.
