TO THE THEORETICAL ASPECTS OF SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTREPRENEURSHIP IN REGIONAL ECONOMY

Abstract

This article examines the theoretical foundations of small and medium-sized businesses in regional economic development. It explores the main scientific approaches to defining the nature of small and medium-sized businesses, as well as their importance in fostering a competitive environment and ensuring sustainable socioeconomic development in regions. Particular attention is paid to analyzing the factors influencing the development of small and medium-sized businesses at the regional level. The key functions of small and medium-sized businesses in the economy are identified, including job creation, stimulating innovation, and developing the entrepreneurial environment. The digital transformation of small and medium-sized enterprises is also explored. As the digital economy becomes more widespread, integrating advanced technologies such as e-commerce platforms, artificial intelligence, and data analytics can help small and medium-sized businesses scale their operations and compete in global markets.
