This article presents the results of a conceptual analysis of the category "population's standard of living" (PSL), based on a body of scientific literature and regulatory documents. The empirical basis comprises three information resources: the eLibrary.ru digital library, the Russian State Library (RSL), and the "Garant" legal reference system. Interpretations of PSL found in dissertations and scholarly articles are systematized, covering aspects such as income levels, consumption of goods and services, and general well-being. Scientific approaches to measuring PSL are classified; key conceptual components are identified, and standard definitions—including the relationship between PSL and the concept of "quality of life"—are adopted. Particular attention is paid to the evolution of PSL assessment methodologies, tracing the shift from simple quantitative indicators to complex, interdisciplinary models that incorporate sustainable well-being and development goals. The study substantiates the need to combine various approaches for the effective management of PSL.
