The article examines the international legal basis for establishing criminal liability for crimes against personal freedom, honor and dignity of the individual. The study is based on an analysis of key international instruments, including the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, the Convention against Torture and the European Convention on Human Rights. Particular attention is paid to the case law of the European Court of Human Rights and the impact of international norms on national legislation. The challenges of the digital age and transnational crime, requiring the adaptation of the legal system, are emphasized. The work contains theoretical and legal analysis, conclusions and proposals for improving the mechanisms of international criminal liability.
