The article notes the important role of the institution of preliminary protection in administrative proceedings. It is emphasized that the use of interim measures in administrative proceedings is currently an integral part of justice and effective judicial protection, which is aimed at providing preliminary protection and restoration of violated substantive rights. Features similar to the institution of interim measures found in civil law are considered. The concept and signs of preliminary protection are revealed, cases of its application are shown, the current level of development is noted and the doctrinal views of legal scholars on the features of the use of the institution under study in the administrative process are presented.
