Abstract

The article analyzes the characteristics of an open economy in the context of expanding globalization. It is determined that at present, an open economy is understood as an economy in which all economic entities actively participate in the global market of goods, services and factors of production without any restrictions. Taking into account the participation of countries in an open economy, it is classified into a large open economy and a small open economy, and countries participating in international economic relations are divided according to the types of open economy. A large open economy is an economy in which changes affect the entire world economy. A small open economy is a price receiver from the world market and is dependent. As a result of the analysis of qualitative and quantitative indicators of an open economy, taking into account the characteristics of the economy of the Republic of Tajikistan, it was determined that Tajikistan has a small open economy. The study showed that the small open economy of Tajikistan has objectively determined features, in particular, the country acts on the world market as a price taker for goods and services, its economic growth depends on the export of certain goods, and there is a high dependence on imports to saturate the domestic market for goods and services.
