The article examines the problems of providing industry with raw materials, human resources and material and technical base. The historical stages of formation and development of the national economy and on this basis its current position are characterized with the aim of achieving strategic goals. The problems existing on the way to the implementation of one of the strategic goals – accelerated industrialization – are specified. The factors influencing sustainable economic development are explained: economic, political, and the production and demographic potential is revealed. Some aspects of the goals and objectives of the Strategy for the Development of Green Economy in the Republic of Tajikistan are considered, the need for adaptation to climate change, as well as the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and the efficient use of natural resources is emphasized. The problem of labor shortage, in particular highly qualified specialists, in the industrial sector is studied.
