The article examines the formation of the potential for resource provision of the regional economy. Approaches to studying the potential of a region have been identified (systemic, situational approach, potential analysis method, regional analysis, integrated assessment method).The conceptual and categorical apparatus of the regional economy has been improved thanks to the introduction of the concept of “resource supply potential for the regional economy.” The signs of the resource supply potential of the regional economy are identified: sources of formation, industry of formation, levels of formation, scale of distribution, effectiveness of use. The stages of the process of forming resource supply potential from the emergence of an idea to the implementation of measures to generate demand and stimulate sales have been established. The structure has been studied and characteristics of the components of the potential for resource provision of the regional economy have been given.
