Abstract

ThearticleexaminestheplaceofCentralAsiainTurkishpolitics. The modern foreign policy doctrine and Turkey's narrative about its role in international relations are analyzed. The features of the “strategic depth” strategy, its methodological and practical principles, as well as Turkey’s approach to Central Asia in the long term are examined. Ten theses on the importance of Central Asia for Turkey are analyzed: zone of linguistic, cultural and religious influence, strategic space, access to fuel resources, creation of transit corridors, access to new markets, military cooperation, the Afghanistan factor, space for competition with other players and the implementation of public diplomacy.
