The article examines the legal status of women taking into account fundamental changes in their social status. The peculiarities of the legal status of women are determined taking into account their gender and other psychological and social characteristics. The relationship between the legal status of women and their social status is determined. So, the author's concept of the legal status of women is proposed. Therefore, the author's idea is substantiated that the legal status of women is a historical category, since this category developed in Tajikistan in various historical periods and during the existence of various civilizations, acquiring its own characteristics. The development of the concept of the legal status of women is substantiated on the basis of general theoretical knowledge.
