The article systematizes and analyzes the current problems of food security in the world economy and in the Republic of Tajikistan. The essence of food security is revealed and the main components of its provision are identified. The authors lay special emphasis upon the organization of agricultural production and factors influencing food security for the nearest future. The article also analyzes the importance of food security for the state. The authors studied also the current realities of food security in Tajikistan and analyzed the prerequisites and prospects for introducing the Concept of sustainable development into the country, they disclosed a significance of food security for the state. The role of the government and international organizations in ensuring food security is determined. The authors give several recommendations on how to solve this problem paying special attention to the role of agriculture in the Republic of Tajikistan.
