The article examines the development of relations between the European Union and the Republic of Tajikistan from 2007 up to 2019, since the adoption of the EU document for Central Asia, entitled: "The European Union and Central Asia - the strategy of the new partnership." As the result of the analysis, the author proved that in the light of the adopted political document, political cooperation between the EU and Tajikistan was able to strengthen. The results of the political dialogue between the participants achieved in a number of areas outlined in the strategy, as well as a growth indicators in a number of key areas, were a clear demonstration of the strengthening that took place.Accordingly, the study aims at exploration of the problem of international cooperation between the EU and Tajikistan in the context of the approved partnership strategy and the agreements adopted on its basis targeted at building harmonious relations between the institutions of civil society in the economic and social spheres of the Republic of Tajikistan. The information gathered in the article is supplemented with descriptions of the actions taken by the parties in order to come to agreement that should be considered as a part of ongoing cooperation. In particular, the author emphasizes the activities implemented in the country immediately after the adoption of the partnership and cooperation agreement January 1, 2010, the measures on integration of Tajikistan into the world economy carried out with the assistance of the Committee for Cooperation between Tajikistan and the EU established in 2011 through the country's inclusion into WTO on 2 March 2013.
