The article presents the results of the research in regard to population’s welfare and the essence of the category conveying relations of man in the process of life activities. The author determines basic criteria in regard to life standard and quality characterizing population’s welfare. Households being an integral part of national economy are canvassed for the first time as a factor swaying over welfare standard. He gives an assessment of the sources of formation of incomes and structure related to expenses determining solvency of households purchasing goods and services. Special attention is paid to the study of household productive functions whose effectuation promotes a rise of need satisfaction degree concerning food stuffs and family‘s incomes.
