Statistical Analysis of Demographic Aging of the Population in Volgograd Region

Abstract

The results of the study of the demographic aging dynamics of Volgograd oblast population in the period from 1990 to 2016 are presented. The demographic aging analysis is conducted for different categories of the population, differentiated by sex and type of settlements.  Sex-age pyramid, birth rate, average life continuity expectancy for people who have reached the age of 60  are considered as factors influencing the dynamics of population aging. The article analyzes the influence of migration processes on the transformation of sex and age structure of Volgograd oblast population. It is concluded that external migration for the region contributes to an increase in the proportion of the elderly population, since in the age profile of  negative saldo of absolute migration persons from 15 to 39 years of age predominate.
