In the article different monitoring conceptions and sustainable development assessment as an organization of systematic observance over the region economy have been canvassed. The author discloses the principles and goals of monitoring and in addition she suggests methods of sustainable development assessment in reference to the region in the space on the basis of economic, ecological and social indices. The method of visualized assessment of the state of development sustainability containing social component is proposed. This method affords to conduct a multifaceted assessment of sustainable development whose parametres determine the state of economic, ecological and social components concerned with region development.
