The article dwells on the grounds of retail trade network functioning. The authors conducted an analysis of internal and external risks of regional retail trade networks. For elicitation of multiaspectal mutual connection of the factors relating to outward milieu and trading branch methods of correlative analysis were resorted to. The elicited tendencies associated with the change of internal and external risky factors referring to trade branch development have been revealed due to the following moments being taken into account: share of organizations` retail trade with commercial enterprises included, proportion of those ones engaged in commerce in relation to all those participating in the economy of Russian Federation, stocks, expenditures for labour payment, commercial expenses, coefficiency of being provided with one`s own resources. It is established that the principal trend of regional retail trade networks lies not only in maximization of meeting people`s needs in high quality produce, but in a quality of services either.
