The author of the article attempts to prove that the scientific analysis of legal regulation is precisely the disclosure of its functions, which provides an opportunity for an objective determination of its specific functional objective as a system of interacting and subordinate categories and phenomena, ensuring law enforcement on society.
The aim of the work is in a functional approach to the analysis of state-legal phenomena. The corresponding analysis of one of the central institutions of the general theory in regard to legal regulation leads to the disclosure of its nature and social assignment that is closely related to its effective performance, proceeding from the importance and value of social rights. In accordance with the objective the main streamline of the paper is to examine manifestations of the functions in the system of legal regulation of the impact on social relations. After all, the function, along with the method of legal regulation and the principles of law, constitute the legal categories that reflect the content of the elements of modern law and characterize it as a whole. Accordingly, the functions of modern civil law, together with the method of civil law regulation of public relations and branch principles, express the social assignment of modern civil law, peculiarity of the forms of civil law regulation.
