As a sovereign, law-abiding, democratic and unitarian state Tajikistan Republic adopted the Constitution by means of referendum on Nowember 6, 1994. As the basic law of the state the Constitution advocates the sovereignty of the state. The article dwells on one of the actual problems of jurisprudence which highlights the role of Constitution in the development and consolidation of Tajikistan Republic sovereignty. The author of the article discloses the role of the Constitution in the years of independence. The norms of the Constitution reflect the signs of sovereignty on the basis of which the international community recognizes Tajikistan Republic in the contemporary world as an independent state
